Enough is enough

Over the past few weeks I have been asked; why am I running for State Representative? The answer is clear. It’s time to break the current political mold. We need new criteria for our elected officials. No longer can we afford to re-elect the lifelong politicians who trade one important seat for another for personal gain. Circumstances like this have created the headache we now have in Lansing.
As a State we need to revert back to what our political process was designed to do. Legislate in the best interest of the citizens. For too long, we the people have employed self promoting individuals looking only to advance their own careers. High salaries, pension after six years, and full medical benefits. It is my opinion we are not getting our money’s worth.
I believe what qualifies a person to run for office is his/her standing in the community. This would include a business professional, working person, community volunteer, but most importantly a morally upstanding member of the community. This person needs to understand the problems facing him and his neighbors. One who has the courage to fight for the people not the PAC’s or Party bosses. Finally, not an elected politician trying to promise change while already cast into the mold of what is broken in Lansing.
Need Proof:
- Michigan’s new $1.4 Billion budget increase = $1.4 Billion tax increase
- Michigan has the 12th highest tax burden on residents and business
- State unemployment running at 7.4 %
- State GDP 0.1%, now ranked 39th in nation
- Autoworkers now outnumbered by government employment first time since 1956
- 67% of United Van Lines work in this state has been (outbound) leaving the state
- Michigan is already dead last in home price appreciation (-3.7 percent)
- Estimated at 11.2% of income, Michigan’s state/local tax burden percentage ranks 14th highest nationally
- Combined state/local property tax per capita, ranking 15th highest nationally.
Strong Leadership needed now. Join our team and help us form a multi-community coalition to examine the negative aspects or possibilities of the Airport Runway expansion project. We cannot afford to let them give us another unwanted “well” project.
